We emphasize that this is the only ACTP requirement that would change for these schools and all other substantive requirements must still be met.
The alternative would waive the requirement of an MCC as director of training for schools outside the US and Canada. It would allow a coach who meets specific requirements to serve as director of training while pursuing their MCC designation. The requirements are below.
For schools outside the US and Canada: Waive MCC requirement for director of training for 3 years. Director of Training must instead document that he/she has:
- 1250 hours of actual coaching experience
- Been mentored coached at least 20 hours
- Subscribes to ICF's Definition of Coaching, Code of Ethics, and Core Coaching Competencies.
- Has a background of at least 125 hours of coach training and committed to obtaining 200 hours of coach specific training by two years from date of ACTP application.
- Letters of reference from two other well-known coaches in the area or MCC/PCCs (ICF credentialed coaches) who have personal knowledge and can personally attest to the applicant's coaching abilities. (The letters of reference must come from coaches who have actually heard you coach.)
- Documentation validating contribution to profession in their area
- Documentation indicating contribution to curriculum development of program seeking accreditation.
- Been observed coaching by two members of application review committee
- Committed to obtaining PCC as soon as possible and committed to obtaining MCC within 3 years.
